Residents of the High Desert have two opportunities to clean up unwanted items at free Community Cleanup events on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
San Bernardino County Land Use Services Code Enforcement, in partnership with the Solid Waste Management Division and funded by CalRecycle, will host events at:
Newberry Springs
Newberry Springs Senior Center
33838 Newberry Road, Newberry Springs
Daggett
Daggett Community Service District
33703 Second Street, Daggett
Time for both events: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
(Events may end earlier if equipment reaches capacity.)
These events are for residents of unincorporated areas only and provide a convenient way to safely dispose of accumulated materials at no cost.
What You Can Bring (FREE Disposal)
Containers will be available at both locations for:
- Household trash
- Bulky items
- Green waste
- Vehicle tires (see limits below)
- E-waste
- On-site confidential document shredding
The Urban Conservation Corps will be on site to collect electronics, including TVs, computer monitors, VCRs, stereos, cell phones, and more.
Free compost will also be available. Please bring your own containers and shovels and be prepared to load materials yourself.
Important Event Rules
- Residents only – No business, commercial, or industrial waste will be accepted.
- Loads must be safely secured and properly covered during transport.
- Tire limit: Maximum of 9 tires per load. State law prohibits hauling more than 9 tires without an exemption. Tires on rims will be accepted.
- You must unload your own materials.
- Oversized, loose, or hard-to-handle loads may be turned away and required to be disposed of at your own expense.
- Concrete will not be accepted.
Hazardous Waste Is NOT Accepted
These events cannot accept hazardous materials, including:
Household and auto batteries, motor oil and oil filters, antifreeze, gasoline, drain cleaners, pesticides, fertilizers, fluorescent lights, wood preservatives, pool and hobby chemicals, auto/furniture polish, paint thinners, paint products, medications, and similar items.
