The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its Lady Be Aware program, offering women the opportunity to build confidence, improve personal safety awareness, and learn practical self-defense skills. Hosted by the Sheriff’s Training Division, the one-day course is designed to help participants develop the attitude, knowledge, and abilities needed to reduce the risk of becoming a victim.

The eight-hour course features newly revamped classroom material combined with hands-on training. Participants will spend four hours in the classroom learning about topics such as cybersecurity, home safety, situational awareness, and strategies for recognizing and avoiding potentially dangerous situations. The course also includes two hours of weaponless defense instruction and two hours of shooting and firearm safety training led by certified instructors. Upcoming classes are scheduled for June 13, Sept. 19, Sept. 26, Oct. 17, Oct. 24, and Nov. 14 at the Sheriff’s Training Center located at 18901 Institution Road in Devore. The course fee is $75 per person, and participants must be 16 years of age or older. For registration information, email Ladybeaware@sbcsd.org. More details are available on the Sheriff’s Department Facebook page.
