The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. (PST) to provide an overview of federal disaster loan assistance available to businesses, private nonprofits, homeowners, and renters impacted by the mid-December winter storms. This session will walk participants through eligibility requirements, loan types, application deadlines, and ways community partners can help share these critical recovery resources. The webinar will be held via Microsoft Teams and is open to organizations and individuals seeking more information about available assistance.
The SBA recently issued a disaster declaration covering multiple counties, including San Bernardino, Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside, following severe storm impacts from December 16–26, 2025. Eligible businesses and nonprofits may apply for up to $2 million in low-interest loans to repair or replace damaged property and assets. Homeowners may borrow up to $500,000 to repair or replace their primary residence, while renters and homeowners may access up to $100,000 for personal property losses. Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) are also available to eligible small businesses and nonprofits that suffered financial losses related to the disaster, even if they did not experience physical damage.
Interest rates are as low as 4% for businesses, 3.625% for nonprofits, and 2.875% for homeowners and renters, with terms up to 30 years. Importantly, interest does not begin to accrue and payments are not due until 12 months after the first loan disbursement. The deadline to apply for physical damage loans is April 6, and the deadline for economic injury applications is November 3.
