In 1925, President Calvin Coolidge proclaimed Fire Prevention Week a national observance, making it the longest-running public health observance in the United States. During Fire Prevention Week it a time to focus on fire safety and prevention measures.
This year’s observance will conclude on Saturday, October 14, and many local fire stations will mark the occasion with Open House events. This is a great chance to meet first responders in your community!
BARSTOW – The Barstow Fire Protection District invites you to their Open House at 861 Barstow Road, this Saturday, October 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The firefighters will be serving up complimentary coffee, doughnuts, and bagels, as well as providing tours of the station. Meet some of the dedicated team working to keep Barstow safe and take a closer look at some of the equipment they use to get the job done!
COLTON – The Colton Fire Department will host an Open House AND Pancake Breakfast Saturday, October 14, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. The event takes place at 303 East E Street in Colton, and will feature station tours, an extrication demonstration, kids activities, and of course, pancakes! HIGHLAND – Meet Highland’s Firefighters this Saturday, October 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Fire Station #3, 7649 Sterling Avenue. Visitors can tour the fire station, explore fire engines, learn more about fire prevention, and even take advantage of a free blood pressure check. Refreshments will be served too! REDLANDS – The Redlands Fire Department will host its annual open house on Saturday, October 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Fire Station 261 on E. Citrus Avenue. It’s a fun and educational event that will feature CPR demonstrations, jaws of life rescue tools on display, the new aerial ladder truck, and tours of the fire station.
