Residents of the unincorporated Copper Mountain area will have an opportunity to dispose of unwanted items at no cost during an upcoming Community Cleanup event hosted by San Bernardino County Land Use Services Code Enforcement, in partnership with the Solid Waste Management Division.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Copper Mountain Mesa Community Association, located at 65336 Winters Road in Joshua Tree. Residents are encouraged to arrive early, as the event may conclude before noon if disposal containers reach capacity.
This free service is available exclusively to residents of unincorporated areas and is designed to help safely and responsibly dispose of accumulated household waste. Accepted items include general household trash, bulky items, green waste, and up to nine vehicle tires per load. Tires on rims will also be accepted. Please note that all participants are required to unload their own materials.
In addition to standard disposal services, the event will feature on-site confidential document shredding and e-waste collection, including items such as televisions, computer monitors, stereos, and cell phones. The Urban Conservation Corps will be on hand to assist with electronic waste collection. Free compost will also be available while supplies last; attendees should bring their own containers and tools for loading.
Residents are reminded that certain materials will not be accepted. Prohibited items include hazardous waste such as batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, pesticides, fertilizers, paint products, fluorescent lights, and similar materials. Concrete and commercial or industrial waste will also not be accepted.
To ensure a smooth and safe experience, residents are asked to properly secure and cover all loads during transport. Those bringing large or difficult-to-handle items should be prepared, as oversized loads may be turned away.
Events like this play an important role in keeping communities clean, reducing illegal dumping, and protecting the local environment. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this free opportunity to clear out unwanted materials and contribute to a cleaner Copper Mountain.
