San Bernardino County is excited to announce upcoming revitalization projects for the Wonder Valley and Lucerne Valley community centers, showcasing a strong commitment to improving the quality of life in the desert region. Supervisor Rowe emphasized the personal and professional importance of the desert communities, highlighting their unique character and the resilience of the residents who call them home. These projects aim to modernize these critical gathering spaces, ensuring they remain hubs for connection, learning, and celebration for years to come.

The Wonder Valley Community Center opened in 1991 and has served as a vital resource for local nonprofits, private events, and community gatherings. However, years of use and exposure to harsh weather conditions have taken their toll. With funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the center will undergo a significant transformation.

Similarly, the Lucerne Valley Community Center, which opened in 1964, will receive much-needed updates to bring the facility into the modern era. ARPA funds will be used to renovate the kitchen and bathrooms, creating opportunities for expanded community events, from cooking classes to public celebrations.
