Roadwork Scheduled This Week Across the Third District
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 8 is advising motorists of multiple roadwork operations scheduled throughout the Third District during the week of May 26, 2025. These projects include emergency repairs, pavement rehabilitation, striping, landscape maintenance, and water service installation. All work is weather permitting.
Big Bear – State Route 38
On Tuesday, May 27, Big Bear Community Services District will install a new water service line at 1232 E. Big Bear Blvd. (SR-38). This work will require the closure of the right-turn sweep at the intersection of Shay Road, Greenspot Road, and SR-38. Right turns will still be permitted at the stop sign, and all work will take place on the right shoulder.
State Route 330 – Emergency Repairs
Phase 2 of emergency repairs continues this week along SR-330 due to damage from the Line Fire. From May 27 through May 30, between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., crews will conduct culvert repairs, slope stabilization, and debris clearing from postmile 34 to postmile 41.82 at Live Oak Avenue. A daytime flagging operation will be in place, and drivers should expect delays and reduce speed through work zones.
SR-330 and SR-18 – Striping Operations
Striping crews will refresh white edge lines and yellow center lines along SR-330 and SR-18 on May 27–28 and May 30, between 6:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Work will involve moving closures across both highways. Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution and allow extra space near striping crews.
San Bernardino – SR-210 Landscape Maintenance
On Thursday, May 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Caltrans and Metro Landscape crews will close the westbound SR-210 Highland Avenue on-ramp for tree trimming, weed abatement, litter removal, and routine road maintenance.
Yucca Valley – SR-247 Pavement Rehabilitation
A $21.9 million pavement rehabilitation and shoulder widening project is underway on SR-247 between the SR-62 junction and Gin Road. This Caltrans project, funded through Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), will continue through fall 2025. Nightly lane closures are occurring Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., with flagging and pilot vehicle traffic control in place. Delays may reach 20 minutes per direction. There will be no lane closures May 23, 25, or 26 in observance of Memorial Day, unless emergency work is required.
Colton & San Bernardino – I-215 Freeway Lane Closures
From Monday, May 26 through Friday, May 30, alternating lane closures will be in effect nightly from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on both northbound and southbound I-215. Work extends from just south of the I-10/I-215 split to the Mill Street undercrossing for pavement rehabilitation and safety improvements. Closure areas include freeway connectors (I-10 to I-215 and vice versa), lanes between Cooley Drive and Mill Street, and on- and off-ramps at Orange Show Road and Mill Street. Other lanes will remain open—no detours will be in place.
