National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) will be observed April 6–12, 2025, with communities across the nation coming together to honor survivors, remember those lost to violent crime, and reaffirm a collective commitment to justice and healing. Since 1981, NCVRW has served as a powerful reminder of how far the victims’ rights movement has come—and how far we still must go to ensure justice and healing for all.

This year’s theme, “KINSHIP: Connecting. Healing.” emphasizes the importance of relationships and community in the aftermath of crime. It’s a call to stand with victims, support survivors, and foster meaningful connections that promote recovery and empowerment.

Locally, the City of Redlands, in partnership with Families and Friends of Murdered Victims, the Redlands Police Department, the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office, and the Office of Victim Services, invites the public to a Candlelight Memorial on Thursday, April 10, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Redlands Police Depot in Smiley Park (30 Cajon Street, Redlands).

This heartfelt event provides a space for remembrance, healing, and solidarity. Attendees are encouraged to bring a photo, shoes, or a T-shirt to honor a loved one. A Clothesline Display, provided by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office of Victim Services, will serve as a moving tribute to those whose lives have been forever changed by violence.
