Stronger Coordination During Storms
While residents help report post-storm damage, the County has also strengthened how it responds during winter weather events.
San Bernardino County recently formalized a new five-year partnership between the Land Use Services Code Enforcement Division and Public Works — a collaboration focused on keeping roads clear and ensuring faster emergency response, especially in mountain communities.
During snowstorms, improperly parked vehicles can block snowplows, delay service, and prevent emergency responders from reaching residents. Under this agreement, Code Enforcement officers take a proactive role by educating residents and visitors about parking restrictions and enforcing those rules when necessary.
The goal is straightforward: clear access for plows, improved response times, and safer travel during critical storm conditions. By combining outreach, education, and enforcement before and during storm events, the County is working to reduce delays and keep neighborhoods accessible when it matters most.
